What does the Kármán Line represent?

Answer: The edge of space

The Kármán Line represents the altitude at which Earth's atmosphere ends and space begins. It was named for Hungarian physicist Theodore von Kármán, who estimated the edge of space to be approximately 50 miles above sea level, according to National Geographic. The Federal Aviation Administration, the U.S. Air Force, and NASA generally agree with this estimate, but other organizations place the imaginary line higher. NASA Mission Control, for example, puts the boundary 76 miles above sea level, while the Federation Aeronautique Internationale — the world governing body for aeronautic and astronautic records — says space begins at 62 miles (or 100 kilometers) above sea level.
