In the Pool Hall on Sunday

Where have the last five months gone?  Now here it is time to go north again...   We did get together this Sunday for a fun Mixed Doubles pool playing time... To start it all off one of the teams couldn't make it because of health issues... Talked to this team and they are fine now.  We asked another fella pool player if he and his wife could fill in for the sick players but they couldn't play cause she was coloring her hair.  Hair coloring is a good excuse --- right pool hall babes?????    When drawing for playing partners there was a name that was missing for some unknown reason and I heard about that too...  That is hard on my ears---no grumping, please...  After the pool playing was over Paul hung a picture that Gary Eakins donated to the pool hall---  a picture of ten of our presidents and there were eight of them playing pool...  a great tribute to a great game --- Thanks, Gary Eakins...  Stop in and see the picture --- really nice.

Saturday night, March 27th was the next to the last Hoss Collar episode for the 20-21 season. The temperature was nice and the wind had died down.  Les McKinney won 1st Place with 698 points, Janet Yeley captured 2nd Place with 682 points and Bob Lee won 3rd Place with 654 points.  The last Hoss Collar of the season will be Wednesday night, March 31st. This does not mean that no one can play Hoss Collar until November 1st, anyone can organize and play Hoss Collar at anytime.  It just means it is not a regularly scheduled activity when the hosts have left for the summer.  Regular shuffleboard will be offered Monday, March 29th and Wednesday, March 31st and then the activity will not be hosted until Monday, November 1st . But anyone can go to the courts and play. Have a great summer and we will see you next season.

So now on to the real talent that was shown today by all of us...  Because we were short one team we only played six games...    Two teams won 4 of the 6 they played they were Barb Brooker & Frank Newman and team Sally Kelleher & Garry  Fusselman...    Teams winning 3 of the six were Bev McEnaney & Terry Steinbeck and team Gayle Steinbeck & Paul Kelleher and team Janet Yeley & Paul Kelleher---- Teams winning 2 of the 6 played were team Donna Hanke & Butch Brooker and team Gwen Newman & Bob Yeley.

To end this eventful Sunday afternoon --  as I was going out the pool hall door after the games were played the wind picked up just right and blew the score sheets out of my basket...  One blew back into the pool hall and one on the east side of the pool hall ---and some right on the ground by myself...  Thanks to Paul & Sally for helping me round up the score sheets... It has been a fun season -- loved every second of it...

Next Sunday, Easter we have a signup sheet up and we decided to play about 5:00 in the afternoon.   Whoever wants to play just show up or sign up.......We will have a good time too......

It was a beautiful evening for Hoss Collar, Wednesday, March 17th. The courts were a clean green for St. Patrick’s Day.  Stan Ringler won 1st Place with 612 points, Jim Voth won 2nd Place with 607 points and Bob Lee came in 3rd Place with 592 points.  We want to thank those who helped clean the courts on Tuesday. Big thanks go to Les McKinney, Orin Clinger, Gary DeRosier, Dan and Linda Lang.  The courts will be easier to clean in November when the Shuffleboard season starts, especially after the terrible winds and cold spell that we have recently endured. The burning season for the sugar cane is from mid-October to early April so we shouldn’t have much build-up from that activity.  We play Hoss Collar Wednesday and Saturday evenings starting at 6:30PM and we play regular shuffleboard on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays at 9:00 AM.  Come join us and wear your masks. See Ya!

Sad news that May Harp passed away yesterday March 15th.

"So much to say but so few words that seem to do it justice. What a       wonderful celebration of our ministry here at Trophy Gardens.  You all have been such a blessing to us over these 20 plus years.  You have loved us, laughed with us, cried with us, and shared this wonderful journey.  Thank you so much. In His love,  Darrel & Winonna

There will be church on Sunday morning at 9:00 am. We will be having a guest pastor doing the sermon.

Lynn gave the numbers at the Park Meeting as 431 people in the park on 241 sites and 67 pets. *The office will not be open on weekends after April 1st.

** Mike Owens announced that he is looking for someone to take over the Veterans Advocate. He would help train someone for the job. There will be a flag burning ceremony Friday on lot 116, at 11:30 am. The VFW will be doing the ceremony. If you have not seen a “flag burning ceremony” before it is interesting and worth watching it.

I found a video tape, Welcome to Texas Video Tour of Rio Grande Valley, and a book, inside of a mesh bag, "Undetected" by Dee Henderson. These items were found in my bicycle basket last night. They have been turned into the office. Thanks, Deb Bessey lot #544

ERMA L. ADAM's birthday 2-22-27 Remembering the good times at Trophy Gardens. I AM 94 TODAY AND THANK EVERYONE FOR THE NICE BIRTHDAY GREETINGS. YOU MADE MY DAY.  ERMA L. ADAM, 400 EVERGREEN ST. ST. JAMES, MO. 65559

A BIG Happy Birthday to Erna Adam-!!!!

At the park meeting Lynn reported that there are 442 people in the park on 245 sites and 65 pets.

When JD was given his turn to talk, horns honked, people held up signs to show him he was appreciated for all he did to get the electricity and water going in the park. He also got some pop to have later and Pastor gave him a loaf of his bread! --Lynn liked that!!

I got a phone call from Dolly Wren today. We had a very nice conversation. She is spending her winters with her daughter in Florida and she will go back to Arkansas for the summer. If interested her winter address is: 2370 Hibiscus, Panama City Beach, FL 32413

Wednesday night, February 24th was a tad windy, but Hoss Collar prevailed under a slightly full moon. Janet Yeley won 1st Place with 618 points, Roger Francis won 2nd Place with 572 points and John Chalko came in 3rd with 550 points.  Well done! We play Hoss Collar Wednesday and Saturday nights at 6:30 PM.  Bring a dollar, your mask and have a lot of laughs. We play regular shuffleboard on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at 9:00 AM.  Bring $.30 and get your vitamin D. We sanitize, practice social distancing and wear our masks.  Come a little early because we do have a limit of how many can play.  Thanks!!
