Bits & Pieces Friday 5-29-2020

Rosie Pfaff is asking for prayers for her son who is a policeman in Minneapolis. He is right in the middle of the trouble going on. He is where the precinct is burning. Also prayers for her grandson and granddaughter who are also policemen there. Her Granddaughter is a doctor and she had to close her clinic because of it. That is how close she is. Get the prayer wheel spinning for Rosie's family and for the troubles stopping.

Belinda Avalos's mother-in-law passed away this week. For those of you that haven't been to Trophy for a few years, Belinda is the business office manager. She has been here for 7 years.

Keep the prayer wheel spinning for those that need it.

Here's the Deal

During the summer months when the population at Trophy Gardens is less than optimal it can be a challenge to post things of interest so I will now and then post things of my interest. My sister-in-law, Keri, sent me this youtube video mainly because Butch is a squirrel warrior and she knew he would enjoy it. I hope you enjoy it too. It is long but worth it if you have a sufficient sense of humor.

PS: You can send me things to put on too. 😊

Bits & Pieces Tuesday 5-27-2020

I got a text today telling me that Marion Petro passed away today. She was 93 years old. To send cards to the family, send it to John Petro, 16520 Skyline Dr., Tindley Park, IL. 60477

Correction: Address for Adele Pulliam: 10600 E 13th St N. Apt 705.  Wichita, KS 67206 It seems that I got too many 6's. Typo!!

Wilma Weeks sends a big thanks to all of you who sent a card which really helped cheer her up.  Knowing how much they mean to the receiver she will make it a point to send cards to our TG family with issues.  You guys are great. Thanks again.  Tomorrow I go back to the surgeon and hopefully get out of the brace and start therapy to get the new shoulder working.

Park Model for Rent for the 2020-2021 Season. We would prefer four months of rental. It is a very nice park model. Call Merv 956-246-2876 or Betsy 309-344-1583. Maybe you have a friend looking for something to rent.

I will be sending out the June birthday and Anniversaries list soon. If you are not already on it and want to be on it, send me your names and dates.

Have a great day!!

It is with sadness that I have to tell you that Ivy Pollock passed away last night. Ron said that she had had a heart attack. About the meeting

61 Sites, 100 people, 22 fur babies
We had a short meeting this morning to talk about the gate.
It was good to see everyone this morning. It almost felt normal. We had a good meeting, thank you, everyone who came. JD is finding out answers to some of the questions already. As we know the answers, we will let you know. Remember, the out gate is in working order, you will need to stop to let the gate open. There will be a yellow stripe painted to show you where to stop. We don't foresee the "in" gate to be operational for 3 weeks or more.
Jd mentioned some of the upgrades already completed in the Resort: Pavement of the streets, Roof on the craft building, and chapel were replaced. 6 air conditioners in the rentals replaced, the pool deck sanded and repainted. More to come later in the summer.
Several people are having health issues and need prayer. Please keep Trophy Gardens people in your prayers.
That's all folks, have a great rest of the week.

The exit gate is working. Please pull up close to trip the eye on the gate. DO NOT go out of the "in" lane. We will be painting a yellow stripe to show where to stop. This will happen within the next 2 weeks.
See you tomorrow!

It is Tuesday 5/19 from the office

Tuesday Update:
61 Sites, 100 People, 23 Pets
As life tries to get back to normal, we will only post on Tuesdays.
Packages: If you are expecting a package you will be responsible to check on your own. We will not be posting them any longer due to the hall being open.
Blacktop: please do not drive on the fresh blacktop. It needs to set up and it is hot outside. It is best to stay off it until tomorrow morning. This includes golf carts and bikes.
Dances and gatherings: I spoke with our DM and he indicates we will not open for dances, gatherings, happy hours in the hall in the near future. He is taking a very reserved approach to opening up to the public at this time. Let's hope by mid June/July we can resume dances.
Murray's are leaving either Thurs/Friday for vacation. While we are gone Belinda is in charge. We check in with her and Charlie is on call in case there is an emergency.
Have a great rest of the week.

Apology

Butch and I are currently en route to Iowa. We left Trophy Gardens on Sunday and our present location(Tuesday evening) is Coachlight RV Park in Carthage MO. We pulled in without a reservation and were lucky enough to get the last spot. They are hosting a crew of Windmill workers, who will be here for quite some time. I look back on the day as one filled with moments of gratitude and landing here where they had only one spot left falls in that category. For a full story check in on our personal blog: https://brooker3.blogspot.com/
Now on to my apology. I do not do much "on the move" type of Internetwork so I will keep up with Betsie's Bits and Pieces and other things that are sent to me as soon as possible throughout the summer. So send things to me (keep.movin.on@gmail.com) whenever the whim strikes you.
We do have to keep Trophy Garden people close to our hearts and the blog is merely one avenue. See you all in October or thereabouts.
Best wishes always.

Bits & Pieces Monday 5-11-2020

I got a call from Mel Hokkala today wanting to thanks everyone for the cards, calls and prayers for her family during Gene's illness. Everyone in the family was tested for the Covid Virus and everyone came back positive. One of the daughters is in the hospital on a ventilator now. Mel was in the hospital for two days, but is home now. One of the daughters is staying with her. We need to start the prayer wheel for this family.

Bits & Pieces will be hitting the road tomorrow. It's time to get Bryan home. He drives me and my pets home and in October we will be coming back. Remember if you have anything to share with our Trophy family, let me know and I will send it out. I enjoy hearing from you so keep us informed on your doings.

Have a great summer!!

Social Distancing.

Mockingbird singing for all he is worth

The line of trees caught my eye

Black-bellied Whistling duck. I thought they had moved on but Butch spotted this one for me.

Lark Sparrow- taken from my window. The birds are far more visibly abundant here in Trophy now that there are fewer people.

What kind of tree is that?

APP OF THE DAY

Seek by iNaturalist
This app is so cool! Next time you’re outside, simply open the app on your phone, point the camera at a plant, animal, bug, etc., and the app will identify and teach you things about that living object.

I took the advice of the above blurb I found in the RV newsletter, April 30th edition. I have been having a good time with it. Not only will it identify while you are looking at the plant, but I also pointed it at old pictures I had taken that were on my computer and it identified them as well.

Perfect Day for a Walk

This morning I decided to get out and walk before the heat set in. I took my camera with me as I usually do. I discovered that this time of year is great for taking photos without interruption. Here are my miscellaneous meandering photos.

Golf Course

Giant Texas Cactus

We are missing the pool hall. We both spent a fair amount of time there before the "Great Fall" and Covid-19.

Just about anything you might like to do, you can do at Trophy Gardens

This arrangement of foliage looked particularly nice this morning.

Mourning Dove

A place to sit and reflect...

Golden Rain Tree

Texas Wild Olive.

Happy May Day from the office

Happy Friday: It's a beautiful day in the valley.

April Volunteer: I forgot to post our April Volunteer, it is a couple and they are here all year. Lynn and Glyn Massingill, Lynn is always willing to help out when we need her and then she gets Glyn involved too. They do everything from decorating to working the dances to pitching in with a smile. Thanks Lynn and Glyn for all you do to help make TG a great place.

For all those who left this week or this weekend - safe travels and we will see you in the fall.
